Wings CRS - Hurricane Otis Emergency Feeding Mission (2023-2024) Summary

Mission Objective:

Provide emergency food and hygiene supplies to impoverished families in the Acapulco region impacted by Hurricane Otis, addressing immediate survival needs and fostering long-term resilience.

Scope of the Mission:

A team of 14 volunteers launched an emergency feeding mission to vulnerable communities in Guerrero. The mission began amid tragedy, with three volunteers and four journalists tragically killed. The team reorganized in Acapulco, focusing on several underserved communities of the poorest of the poor who were ignored and as a result t had received only 1 to 2 of the 10 rationed boxes (1-2 day supply) distributed by the National Guard.

Aid Provided:

  • Food Supplies: Monthly pantry per family (cereal, oil, milk, rice/noodles, lentils, canned meat)
  • Hygiene Supplies: Bleach, soap, toilet paper, and 4 liters of drinking water per family

Mission Priorities:
