What Is A WINGS CRS Special Mission?

At Wings CRS Special Missions, our unwavering commitment to our threefold mission of Rapid-Response, Recovery, and Resilience drives every action we take ensuring an end-to-end response.
After our Rapid-Response phase is completed, our Special Missions focus on providing critical recovery efforts and resilience-building for communities impacted by catastrophic events, guiding them from mere surviving to thriving. And for communities at risk of catastrophic events, our Special Missions partners with these at-risk communities to provide engineered solutions that reduce the cost of loss of both life and property.

Recovery & Resilience

Recovery Phase:
In the wake of a disaster following our Rapid-Response Mission, the Recovery phase will focus on stabilizing the affected community by providing essential resources such as food, clean water, and temporary shelter. These immediate needs are addressed until the community reaches a state of normalcy where daily life can resume without severe disruption. During this phase, Wings CRS ensures that the community receives the support it needs to regain a sense of security and stability.

Resilience Phase:
Once stability is achieved, our efforts transition into the Resilience phase, which focuses on long-term sustainability and disaster prevention. At the heart of this phase is the integration of a Wings Life Centre—a community resource hub that serves as a beacon of support and growth. Each Life Centre is equipped with:

  • Medical and Dental Care: Fully staffed facilities to provide essential healthcare services.
  • Skills Development Classrooms: Educational spaces for vocational training and skills enhancement.
  • Cooperative Farm: A community-operated farm where families contribute three hours per week to farm maintenance in exchange for fresh produce, fish, poultry, and dairy products.
  • Clean Water Supply: A permanent and reliable source of clean water to ensure the community’s ongoing health and resilience.

The cooperative farm is a pivotal element of our Community Life Centre, fostering self-sufficiency and food security. By participating 3 hours per week in maintaining the farm, families in turn receive the nutritious food they need, creating a sustainable food system that protects against future shortages.

Engineered Solutions:
Besides resource support, our Resilience Missions address infrastructure vulnerabilities by implementing engineered solutions tailored to the community’s needs. These solutions may include flood prevention systems, wind-resistant housing, or other structural improvements designed to withstand natural disasters.

Planned Resilience Missions

With the delivery of our full budget our Special Missions focus is to develop annually up to 32 Wings CRS Community Life Centres across the world.

  1. Mabalacat Pampanga Resilience Mission (2025): During the strict Covid 19 lockdowns in the Mabalacat Dau community in the Philippines, Wings CRS launched and maintained the Mabalacat Pampanga Philippines Emergency Feeding Mission for 10 months, saving 450 families from imminent starvation. Soon the Resilience phase will be launched, implementing our Wings CRS Community Life Centre to provide resilience for the entire community, and building homes for homeless families along the creek, and potentially expanding this mission into neighbouring communities.

  1. Guerrero Recovery & Resilience Mission (2023-2025): This mission supports three squatter communities of over 750 families, struggling in the mountains above Acapulco, Mexico, in the aftermath of two back-to-back hurricanes—Hurricane Otis in October 2023 and Hurricane John in September 2024—and followed by an ongoing drought. These communities face significant challenges due to their total reliance on trucked water. The Mexican government has recently granted land in the higher areas to the squatters to construct permanent homes; however, these homes’ success depends totally on securing a cost-effective, permanent water supply. During the 12-month Recovery phase, which runs until December 31, 2025, Wings CRS is committed upon the delivery of funds, to providing consistent water deliveries while developing a sustainable water system as part of the Resilience phase. Additionally, a food bank will be established during the Recovery phase to address food shortages until the cooperative farm at the Life Centre is fully operational.

3. Ghana Middle Volta Region Resilience Mission (2025-2026): With our planned development of the Wings CRS Ghana Logistical Operations Center, Wings CRS intends to implement resilience development including the development of a Wings CRS Community Life Centre to support the 3 communities adjoining the logistics operations center.
